Environmentally Friendly – “Fencing that does not cost the Earth”
Environmental Policy – holding certifications for both FSC and PEFC timber we are supporting better management and sustainability of the world’s forests.
Waste to Energy Systems – Danbury Fencing has invested in a wood waste combustion unit, an appliance approved under the Clean Air Act and by the Carbon Trust, producing factory space heating.
Trade Waste Concern – environmental legislation now rigorously controls the disposal of all types of waste material. We have a Waste Disposal licence for removing and carting excess / old fencing from site and any which we cannot burn, is disposed and collected by licensed Waste Removal Contractors.
Re-cycling – we use recycled products wherever possible, for example our stationery is all recycled paper. Spent ink cartridges are donated to the RNIB recycling appeal, all postage stamps saved for charity donation.
Timber Treatment – on 30th June 2003 the EU restricted the use of Creosote as a timber treatment to industrial applications only and from 30th June 2004 the same restriction was enforced for CCA (copper, chromium and arsenic). To comply with this EU Directive, in 2004 Danbury Fencing converted to using a non-arsenical timber treatment.
Water – rainwater from our gutters is collected into tank storage for use in the treatment plant. We are also on a water meter.
Danbury Fencing is a Corporate member of the Essex Wildlife Trust.
